Free listings are reviewed by hand. We check the license, the repo, and whether it really runs on Linux or self-hosts, and we judge whether it actually replaces the paid app before it goes live.

The bar: it does the paid app's core job (or we say plainly what it doesn't), it's actively maintained, and its license is open source or honestly labelled source-available. Alpha software can be listed, marked Early. Paying for Fast-track only changes how soon we review it, never the verdict. How we pick alternatives.
